After been with this bank for 24 years with excellent credit history, i decided to get a small loan to purchase a car. this was a MONTH ago. I rang and rang and kept getting the same answer we have sent the paperwork 1st class, we will resend it. this happened 4 times, the loan was approved according to the advisor on the phone but I am still waiting for the paperwork just to sign, I have now lost the car I wanted AND THE DEPOSIT as it has been waaaaaay longer than i ever expected?! would deffo not reccomend this bank for loans etc, customer service is TERRIBLE
I had to go to the Yorkshire bank to sort my departed mothers account, fantastic old fashioned banking like I have not seen at my bank, Barclays, I will be moving my account this week.
I am a new customer and went to open 3 savings accounts today................was not even greeted with a smile!
I have had credit with Yorkshire Bank for approximately 16 years. The once friendly, flexible, prompt customer service of Yorkshire Bank is now a thing of the past. Their methods are dated, their customer service non-existent and their staff are very unhelpful. I can only assume they are doing exceptionally well if they no longer need to care about losing customers.
Been with Yorkshire Bank 10 years and up to about 18 months ago, had a mostly hassle free service. However, elements of poor customer service have started to surface and I'm really unhappy with the service I am now receiving.I had a £20K loan with Yorkshire bank and wanted to reduce this by £10K, having come into some money. The hassle I'm still currently having to go through (5 weeks later) to do this is astonishing and frankly, totally unacceptable. Firstly, I simply couldn't reduce my loan - I had to take out a new loan AND, add £1000 on to the balance - effectively, they charged me £1000 for reducing my loan. Utterly scandalous.
Requested a loan at least 5 times through Yorkshire bank call centre and once in branch. Was told they would ring which never happened. Very poor customer service as branch cannot be contacted direct by phone. Would not recommend as a bank.
They are unhelpful, rude and do not listen to instructions on how to manage your loan do not use them.

They have some complicated way of reducing existing loans which involves multiplying the amount you pay monthly, so that it meets roughly, or as near as the amount you actually want to reduce your loan by?!?!? Not at all straight forward, very poor customer service. I am waiting for them to sort out the loan I've asked them to reduce, then I'm switching banks.
Fairly happy with the customer service and was very excited to hear that the loan was flexiblein terms of paying it back early with no extra fees. There were no problems withapplying and didn't even need to provide any documents although I am guessing that was becauseI have banked with them for such a long time and know my credit and spending habits are good.Overall I was fairly happy with the service though I have been made aware since there are somemore completive rates with other banks.
A very friendly and professional service. We just closed on our house and look forward to theaddition to our family, now that we have an extra room…

Yorkshire Bank, like other banks they request that their applicants have very good credit rating. Customers are also able to get a top-up on their personal loan if they’re looking to borrow at least an additional £1,000 – one thing to watch out for is that your existing Yorkshire Bank loan will be automatically cleared and closed, but you will need to make sure that repayments are kept up-to-date in the meantime.
Yorkshire Bank make it really simple for customers to get in touch if they need to talk about their loan, as well as being able to contact them over the phone and in a branch, they also have online advisors that customers can chat to. This is a nice personal touch from Yorkshire Bank as it means that customers can use the most convenient method for them and still feel in control of their loan.
Yorkshire Bank have a mid to high table OPTIOSCORE of 79.3 out of 100. Their features such as the availability of top ups and their ease of being contacted have boosted this and has made the bank seem more human and personal than others like it in the market. On Choose Wisely their score is an average 2.2 out of 5, some customers have praised them for the lack of fees, but we have seen quite a few reviews who have stated that they’re disorganised, unhelpful and inflexible which is a shame from such a big name.
Overall verdict: An old-fashioned bank that’s tried to embrace the modern world, Yorkshire Bank have tried to position themselves as providing a personal touch. From some of the reviews we’ve seen they’re not quite hitting the mark with it, but with such a big bank this is often the case. As they are slightly more expensive than other lender who have the same criteria, it might be worth shopping around if you can.

Yorkshire Bank offer unsecured personal loans from £1,000 to £35,000 over one to five years. They advertise a representative 2.9% APR online, however depending on personal circumstances and the amount you borrow the actual rate offered may differ once you’ve completed the application.
In order to apply for a loan with Yorkshire Bank you must be aged at least 18 years old. You must have a permanent UK address, a perfect credit history, a UK bank account and a debit and or credit card. You do not need to be an existing customer to apply for a loan with Yorkshire Bank. The application process is quite detailed and you’ll need various documents to refer to such as your address history for the past five years, your employer’s details, information about your income and outgoings and your bank details – with all this to hand the application should take under 20 minutes to complete.
Applications are can be completed in branch, online or over phone. For all applications submitted between 8am and 10pm Monday to Saturday and 8am to 9pm on Sunday Yorkshire Bank aim to provide an instant decision. If an application is submitted outside these hours they aim to get an answer over to you within two working days. If you have been accepted your loan will be credited to your account within five working days of them receiving and checking the required documentation.
Yorkshire Bank allows top-ups to your loan provided you are borrowing at least £1,000 in new funds. You can repay your loan in full and part at any time and they will reduce the total charge for credit. When calculating this they can charge up to an additional 58 days’ interest on top of the amount you have to repay.
