Natwest makes you spend an awful long time in the waiting queue when you try to phone them. It is frankly disgusting! I am so appalled by this company and am now switching credit card provider, as well as current account. What an awful bank!!!!!!

Really disappointed that Natwest have a Σ25 annual fee for some of their credit cards, why???? The competition out there must be tough, there are so many other credit cards to choose from, most with no annual charge.

Our review of NatWest | Low Rate credit card

It’s a shame that the NatWest Low Rate credit card comes with an annual fee as the representative APR is reasonable and affordable. There is no fee for making a balance transfer which is a nice benefit, and you’ll only pay 6.9% interest on this and any purchases. The fee for non-sterling transaction fees is also slightly lower than competitors at 2.75% for foreign transactions.

In 2015, Fairbanking undertook an independent assessment of different financial products and awarded the NatWest Low Rate credit card a three star award for its helpful features. You’ll also get the standard 56 days’ interest free on purchases as long as the current and final monthly payments are both made on time.

There are no online reviews specific to the Low rate credit card, TrustPilot have given NatWest a rating of ‘bad’ overall. This doesn’t just apply to their cards, but also the other products that they provide. Some customers have been left dissatisfied with less than perfect customer service, lack of professionalism and difficulties with switching products.

Overall verdict: The NatWest Low Rate credit card does have its benefits, such as no fee for balance transfers as well as competitive representative APR. Worth exploring further if you’re eligible.

About NatWest | Low Rate credit card

The NatWest Low Rate Platinum credit card has a representative APR of 9.9% and a standard interest rate on purchases of 9.9%. The minimum credit limit is £300 and the maximum limit is decided by NatWest and will take into account personal circumstance and previous credit history. There is an annual fee of £24 for this card but there are no fees for balance transfers.

You can do a balance transfer to your NatWest Low rate credit card of up to 95% of your available credit limit, however the minimum must be over £100. It can take up to three weeks for the balance on your other accounts to be paid off, so you will need to make sure that payments are kept up to date to avoid fees or charges. As with purchases, there’s a standard balance transfer interest rate of 6.9% applied but no fee.

On the NatWest website, customers can check to see if they would be likely to be approved for the card by using the eligibility checker. This takes a few minutes to complete. This form does use a hard credit search which will leave a footprint on your credit history so other providers will be able to see that you’ve been searching for credit.
