Our review of Morses Club
Morses Club, which merged with Shopacheck in early 2015, state on their website that they help around 200,000 customers around the UK, 100 branches and 2,500 self-employed agents. Their website talks a lot about responsible lending and they appear to want to put a personal spin on the service they provide. Customers can apply online for up to £1000 if they have had a loan with Morses Club before and have proved themselves to be creditworthy. Following a home visit and final checks the agent will provide the loan in cash, and then call back each week to collect the repayments.
One thing to note with Morses Club is that even though the process seems simple and convenient, you are only able to receive a loan from them if you live in an area that is serviced by a branch and agents. You can check your eligibility on their website and if you don’t fall into one of these areas then Morses Club are unable to provide you with a loan.
Overall verdict: Morses Club seem to be able to attribute their success to their friendly agents with customers appreciating their personal touch. Nevertheless, ensure that you can afford the repayments before you apply as otherwise you will be faced with someone at the door who will leave disappointed and if it continues, you’ll end up damaging your credit rating.

About Morses Club
Morses Club offer unsecured loans between £100 and £1000 that can be repaid over 20, 33 or 52 weeks. For new customers they offer from £100 - £400 over 20 or 33 weeks. Their representative APR is 433.5%, however the rate you are given could differ, depending on your personal circumstances. Morses Club are a doorstep lender, so after the online application is completed and you are accepted, an agent will deliver the cash directly to your home and will then return each week to collect the repayments.
During the application process an initial form is completed online and includes a credit check, after this the customer will need to pick a date and time for their dedicated Morses Club agent to come to their house, finalise the loan and do an affordability check. The agent will also need to see photographic identification and either a utility bill, payslip, birth certificate or other official letter.
Customers are given a payment card that logs each of their repayment amounts, helping them to keep track of their balance and how many repayments are left in the loan term. There is no charge for settling the loan early - you will need to speak directly to your Morses Club agent who will be able to process this for you.
