Allowed us to pay for holiday of lifetime for Christmas with minimum exchange fees. Also when payments were unauthorised as someone unlawfully stole our details to pay for vouchers online, excellent text alerts to contact and all monies refunded immediately with new card on way in the post. The Nationwide Select Credit Card offers customers 0% interest for a year on both balance transfers (made within the first three months) and purchases. There is also no fee for balance transfers for the first three months of the account being opened, after that it increases to 2.4%. This is still lower than the industry average which is about 3%. Customers of the Nationwide Select Credit Card can also benefit from 0.5% cashback on anything they spend in the UK and there is no limit to how much they can earn in any given period.

Although Nationwide do specify that Select Credit Card applicants already hold one of their accounts, it’s not too much of a problem if you don’t as you can apply for a current account at the same time as making your credit card application. If accepted you’ll also be able to keep on track with your balance and any payments with their online banking, as well as using your Nationwide Select Credit Card to connect to your Apple or Android Pay.

The Nationwide Select Credit Card has achieved a decent OPTIOSCORE, particularly in terms of its simplicity and consumer sentiment. A search of the web to find out other customers’ experiences has thrown up no reviews specific to the card, however on TrustPilot Nationwide as a whole has received a rating of ‘bad’. Although there are positive reviews, the negative ones tend to centre around inconvenient processes, poor organisation and less than perfect customer service.

The Nationwide Select Credit Card has a representative APR of 15.9% on an assumed credit limit of £1,200. The minimum limit is £500 but the upper limit is decided by Nationwide and depends on the applicant’s personal circumstances and previous credit history. There is no annual fee for the Nationwide Select Credit Card, but there is a fee of 2.4% on balance transfers (after the first three months) and 2.5% for cash withdrawals.

To be eligible for the Nationwide Select Credit Card you’ll need to bank with Nationwide already. You either need to have a FlexOne account or FlexAccount and have been paying in more than £750 for the last three months, have a FlexStudent account paying in £1,500 in the last year or have a FlexDirect or FlexPlus account. Also if you want to earn cashback then you’ll need to keep your account. You can also benefit from making payments with the Nationwide Select Credit Card via Apple or Android Pay.

Customers of the Nationwide Select Credit Card will benefit from paying 0% on balance transfers for a year if completed within the first three months, as well as 0% on purchases for a year after the account was opened.
